Salt Workers-Kutch
Salt Workers-Kutch
In the far west of India is the state of Gujarat. These incredibly strong women work the salt fields. In a methodical fashion, they carry twelve kilos of salt in baskets and unload them on a truck. They do this back-breaking work from 5 in the morning until noon and get paid the equivalent of 2 U.S. dollars a day. Rann of Kutch is one of the largest harvestable salt flats in the world. On a photo trip with EpicPhotoTours we were able to speak to these women. After photographing them we gave them enough rupees to send their kids to school for 6 months. The women cried with joy and we felt like we made a difference.
