In India, there are lassis and then there are bhang lassis. The popular yogurt drink is usually infused with fruit. Mango, for example, is a popular flavor. But in Varanasi, the Hindu holy city in the northern part of the subcontinent where spiritual seekers commune with bovines and rooftop-dwelling monkeys, you can get your lassi with a good amount of bhang.
What's this bhang, you're probably wondering? It's pot, dope, grass, weed, Mary Jane, or, as your parents might have called it, marijuana. Cannabis is quasi legal (or at least tolerated) here and there are shops that sell these potent bhang lassis.
Do these green drinks actually make you feel stoned? Do monkeys talk? They might (or you might think they do) after taking a few sips of this.
