Ramos Generales - El Almacen

Av. Maipú 749, V9410 Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina

Ushuaia is known for being at the bottom of the world surrounded by the famous Beagle Channel. It’s fitting then to find the local brew to be named Beagle. Beagle was the name of the famous ship, HMS Beagle, which sailed around the southern part of South America and performed a variety scientific surveys with Charles Darwin on board studying. After watching the ships pull into dock from Antarctica, stop into the Ramos General Store restaurant/bakery/wine bar/coffee shop across from the Ushuaia port and try a cold Beagle. It’s even served up on draft in penguin pitchers. Beagle has three varieties - Rubia-Ale, Negra-Stout, and Rojo-India Pale Ale. All of them are unfiltered and contain a substantial amount of yeast particles, so if you ever come across a bottle, pour with care. Ramos Generales is more like a museum than a restaurant/bar - it certainly provides plenty to look at as you sip your Beagle. The walls are lined with old antiques and books from Patagonia. And be sure to make a stop at the bathroom - it will put a smile on your face.
