A vibrant arts community has emerged around a former railway hub in Santa Fe's Railyard District just seven blocks southwest of the downtown plaza. Seven galleries currently lure art lovers here: David Richard Gallery, Evoke Contemporary, Charlotte Jackson Fine Art, LewAllen Galleries, Photo-Eye Gallery, William Siegal Gallery, and Tai Modern. Like the galleries that transformed New York’s SoHo into an art district, some are located in repurposed warehouses, flooded with the New Mexican light that has inspired so many artists drawn to Santa Fe. The Railyard also offers art events like the Last Friday Art Walk and Free Friday and Saturdays at SITE Santa Fe. Many artists also live in the surrounding neighborhoods—you might meet a few in the galleries or even in the nearby the Santa Fe Artists Market where you can find arts and crafts.
