Spectacular sunrises over the Coral Sea are the norm in Queensland (and thanks to jetlag, you might just catch more early mornings than usual), but if you grow weary of the traditional beach daybreak, there's nothing like the 4 a.m. pickup for a hot air balloon ride over the interior to kick-start your morning. Unlike bucket list hot air balloon experiences in Egypt or Turkey, in Queensland you may be one of only a few balloons in the sky on any given morning.
Gliding almost silently over the Atherton Tablelands, dozens of wallabies hop around the grassy land below. Every single flight is different, so you never quite know what you'll see, only that the breeze will carry you gently over fields, forests and farms. It's an excellent way to take in more of Queensland's interior lands, and it's a beautiful start to a day of adventures. AND, there's a camera attached to the balloon to capture your awestruck reaction as you float around the countryside.
