Queen's Lane Coffee House

And I Didn't Order Coffee!
I absolutely had to eat here. I discovered its existence long before we sojourned in England and told my husband that I absolutely had to eat here! After all, it's the longest established coffeehouse in Europe! And I'm American. Makes sense, right? The whole coffee experience is such a beautiful thing and THIS IS THE LONGEST ESTABLISHED COFFEE HOUSE IN EUROPE. Okay, I think I got through... It was either here or at the famous Eagle and Child Pub where the literary wonders J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis discussed the finer points of life, education and the literary arts (probably girls too). I am an English major, it really was my duty to go to the Pub but, well, everybody goes there, right? And all I could think was, if this coffeehouse has been here since 1654, those literary masters probably sipped some brew here too... so we ate at Queen's Lane and had a truly authentic British experience with some lovely food. Then we traveled a few blocks away and walked into the Eagle and Child for a photo op. There it hit me: I forgot to order coffee at the longest established coffeehouse in Europe!
