Yet after finding a space to sit down, I noticed that next to me, a group of elderly women sat quietly and carefully making beautiful designs on the floor of the temple, with what appeared to be small beans. It was an unlikely, unexpected moment to see such acts of delicacy and grace, in the midst of such intense outward expressions of overwhelming devotion.
