There are just a few things that make my stomach flip or my legs shake with that nervous excitement. When I reached the first platform in the middle of the jungle, standing 150 feet over a rushing waterfall, my legs were trembling. I turned backwards and dropped my butt over the edge and held on to the rope for dear life. I have to say that rapelling in Costa Rica is one my top 5 coolest and most beautiful things I have ever done.
We were in the hands of some cute, bilingual, strong and trustworthy guys. Safety was number one for them so it set the butterflies in my stomach at ease - but my legs couldn’t stop shaking. As I bounced down the rocks, taking in the waterfall and the lush greenery around me, it was like another one of those out-of-body experiences.
With Pure Trek, we had the opportunity to rappel down 4 gorgeous waterfalls. They also snuck in a mini zip-line and a monkey drop that actually made you feel like you were bouncing through the air.
The tour was small with only about 25 people. We had fun getting to meet others around the world while swinging through the jungle.
In true Costa Rica fashion, we finished our morning off with another typical plate - except it felt like thanksgiving in America with all of the second servings they offered. They wanted to make sure we were well fed, refueled with coffee and dropped back off at our hostel.
If you rappel with Pure Trek, give Diego a hug for me :)
