Among the city’s finest Italian dining options, Primo & Secondo is a warm, womb-like embrace of a place on Rue Saint-Dominique, inches away from Marché Jean-Talon. It’s the perfect spot for a tête-à-tête, though plenty of family groups have is as their regular spot as well. Chef Roberto Stabile puts his heart into luscious pasta dishes and buttery pieces of meat, which he prepares with an inventive take on simplicity for his constantly evolving blackboard menu. For a true feast, follow an antipasto with a choice of primo (the first course, usually a pasta), and a secondo, typically a meat or fish. The deserts are supposed to be divine, but we’ve never managed to keep room.
