Fiji has had, to say the least, some interesting political upheavals over the past couple decades. Government House—officially renamed the Presidential Palace, but who knows how long that will last—was built in 1928, using the same plans as the governor’s house in Sri Lanka (another place with interesting politics). It’s a grand old porticoed building—colonial architecture at its best—but you can’t get all that close.
