This is one of the many ways of preparing a codfish dish. Bacalhau Dourado (Golden Codfish) is a typical dish in Elvas, Alentejo; very similar to Bacalhau à Braz. It seems that the recipe comes from a woman from Alentejo, after she started to work as a cook in Elvas Lodging in the year of 1956. The Bacalhau Dourado became famous throughout the country and also in neighboring Spain.
This lodging lived years of splendor, being frequented by the most renowned personalities such as heads of state and royal houses of Spain and Italy that came to taste the famed Bacalhau Dourado.
