Porto Pim is Horta’s second bay, formed when the lava from Monte da Guia volcano created a land bridge to Faial Island. The bay has a fine-sand beach, and is home to an 18th-century military fort and many excellent waterfront restaurants and bars. The curved south-facing shape of the bay guarantees warm and windless summer afternoons.
