Port Said National Museum

The museum was originally founded in 1963, but construction was halted from 1967 to 1973 because of the wars waged between Egypt and Israel. Eventually opened to the public in 1987, the two-story museum and garden houses over 9,000 historic pieces and covers the founding of modern Port Said and the building of the Suez Canal, as well as every era from prehistory to the pharaonic period.
