Along the east coast sits the once-great pirate city of Port Royal, known at its height as the wickedest city in the Caribbean, in the 1600s. Pirates from around the world are said to have congregated here, from as far as the Atlantic coasts. In 1992, an earthquake submerged a big part of this port city. Today, it’s a fascinating archeological site to explore, tucked in a fishing village. Forts, canons, and slanted homes remain standing and make for great photo ops.
