The Ponta Verde neighborhood is Maceió’s playground. It's on a promontory lined with white-sand beaches and promenades perfect for biking and strolling under coconut palms. High-rise residential buildings tower behind the shoreline, and locals and visitors alike flock to its bars and cafés. The reefs offshore keep the waters calm and clear, making this area a windsurfer's delight. Look for the wonderful lighthouse with its red and white stripes; it's been standing in the shallow mudflats here since 1922.
