Point Reyes: One of California's many secrets
Roughly two hours out of San Francisco, the beautiful Point Reyes hides with its secluded beach, hidden trails, and national elk reserve. A two hour drive might seem daunting, but rest assured that the drive is well worth it and just as stunning as the destination itself. Once you hit the elk reserve, drive slowly to try and spot the Tule Elk that reside there. You'll generally be able to find them wherever you see a line of cars parked on the side of the road. Once you've seen enough elk, take the trail out to the beach where you have a chance of seeing elephant seals and whales out in the ocean, depending on the season. Even if it's not seal or whale season, the beach is practically empty and it's a beautiful and romantic stroll. Tip: Dogs are not allowed into the elk reserve.
