Santo Domingo: Colonial Heritage
One of the things I love the most in Spanish colonized countries is the heritage they have been able to maintain from the colonial era. Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic is a prime example. Here you can see the cathedral, first in the Spanish speaking continent, that dates back to the 1500's. On the side you can also see a sculpture of the leader... Christopher Columbus. Come to the square, sit in one of the cafes that oversees the plaza and enjoy the sunset and this magnificent view.
