Pikk Hermann
One of the most recognizable icons in Tallinn, Pikk Hermann (Hermann Tower) was built in the 14th century as part of the Toompea Castle. Visible from almost anywhere in Old Town, it's the tallest tower of the remaining original fortifications. It also serves as a symbol of Estonian independence, with the country's flag—which replaced the Soviet one in 1989—flying proudly on top.
