On a road trip through West Texas I found a comprehensive list of the best diners in Texas and used it as my guide. Isaack's stood out as the all-round best of these.
Having eaten a generous chicken fried steak for breakfast (as one does in West Texas), I tried to stick to the salad bar at Isaack's, which was set up in an antique bath tub. I was forced to assist my companion in her effort to consume the Isaack's hamburger, which was among the best I've ever had.
That pie though. I don't consider myself a pie person but, you know, when in Rome/a diner in West Texas...I left Isaack's thinking I was probably going to die, having consumed approximately 6,000 calories before dinner.
But it was so worth it.
