As a Roman Catholic, I have read about the Vatican and St. Peter's Basilica my entire life. I was moved to be there after the birth of Jesus and during a time of change with Pope Francis leading the church. It is a great time as it is not crowded with tourists but Italians visiting their beloved church. I went into the square and took a tour from a nice lady. They bring you out of the square which may seem shady but this is how they group the people and take you to an entrance to not stand in the crazy lines. Do not pay more than 45 euros which pays for access to the Vatican museums......the tour is great because you receive info that you may not know about like where Michaelangelo is painted in one of the Raphael rooms. The Sistine Chapel will also bring tears to your eyes at the beauty and miracle of this great art by Michaelangelo! St. Peter's Basilica is the last part of the tour. Take the time to pray and take in the beauty and details of this great church. Finally, ask a Swiss guard for a picture admiring their uniform, devotion, and celibacy to the Roman Catholic Church!
