The layout of the Leaning Tower, Cathedral and Baptistery of the Miracle Square in Pisa is not accidental but reflects the shape of the constellation of Aries. Why? Because the first day of the Pisan calendar started on March 25th, the day of the Annunciation but also of Aries as we know thanks to the horoscope.
Looking at the Leaning Tower from the back stairs of the Cathedral we are able to see the illusionist trick designed by Giovanni di Simone in 1272. In fact until that time the construction of the tower had stopped at the third order of the lodges because it was feared that collapsed. Well, Giovanni di Simone decided to work around the problem by putting the columns thinner and longer in the south and shorter and heavy in the north in order to balance the weight. What a genius!
I learned all of that during a guided tour with Martina of Tuscany at Heart in my recent visit to Pisa.
