The biggest town in Italian-speaking Switzerland, greater Lugano has just 135,000 residents—but the youthful attitudes, Mediterranean-like climate and many nightclubs here make for an extremely vibrant nightlife scene. Start off your evening by heading to the Piazza Dante, where outdoor cafes serve beers and spritzes—cocktails made with prosecco, Campari and soda water. If you’re looking for a whisky-and-martini crowd that enjoys a good cigar, head to the Havana Deck at the Parco Paradiso Hotel. Weekend nights get rowdy at the Choco-Late club off the Piazza Dante with house music; so does the very popular Living Room Club, where DJs start spinning at 10 p.m.
