There are many hotel options in Oporto, Portugal. I have stayed in several but on a recent trip to Oporto, I chose to stay at the Pestana Porto Hotel.
The hotel consists of several adjoining buildings. The furnishings were new and up to date. The bed very comfortable and covered with those fantastic Portuguese sheets and coverlets. The bathrooms tiled and well appointed.
The public rooms were cheerful and bright.
Breakfast was a delicious array of goodies.
The staff was very friendly, helpful, and professional.
My room had a view of the D. Luis Bridge and Vila Nova da Guia ( the Port wine cellars are located there).
Outside of the hotel, was the Cais da Ribeira - the Ribeira area waterfront. There are many restaurants along the river.
Nearby on the Cais is the funicular up to the top of the bridge that lets you step down to the lower level and walk over to the Port wine cellars. Don't miss this jaunt.
Nearby is the location of the birth home of Prince Henry the Navigator and several of Oporto's important sites.
I would recommend this hotel. I really had a wonderful time there and in that area.
