Pass By Bar stood out a decade ago as the sole watering hole in a sleepy neighborhood. Now, as part of a strip with over one hundred cafes, bars, restaurants and souvenir shops, it stands as the veteran on the street.
Begun by a backpacker who wanted to make a friendly place in Beijing for fellow travelers, Pass By is a spot to relax, check emails, read a book from the library, and grab a bite to eat. A favorite item is the "hutong" pizza, strewn with barbecued lamb, a typical street food in Beijing.
Pass By also has a superb beer selection, with 150-plus bottled options, from more than a dozen countries, as well as six beers on tap from local microbrewery Tipsy Face.
Grab a seat, grab a pizza and beer, and, on your way out, grab one of the cool Pass By T-shirts as a souvenir.
