We had just parked the car in Monforte d'Alba, Piedmonte, and walked up to a church about to begin service. This man was standing just a stone's toss away. What caught my eye was a sense of loneliness but also a sense of pride in his attire. He was waiting for someone, it seemed, and at times like these I'm grateful for long lenses. I love the color of his skin and how it's so close to the color of the wall behind him. Their histories, his and this small town, seemingly entwined.
