Crystal clear river pools in Gerês
On the northern border of Portugal, up in the mountains that separate the country with Spain is the Peneda-Gerês National Park. Popular during the summer with locals, this is one of Portugal´s lesser know attractions, but is definitely worth the visit. This protected forest boasts kilometers of mountains trails perfect for hiking or cycling, and criss-crossed with crystal clear rivers and streams, perfect for a refreshing dip on hot day. A perfect escape into the wilds for any nature enthusiast.
