Palacio de Gobierno is the Federal Government’s headquarters and the President’s home. It’s open to the public but you have to schedule your visit in advance and only on Saturdays. Of course the Spanish conquerors decorated the Palace in lavish European style, adding marble floors and columns, French mirrors and Czech crystals. The rooms are majestic, notably the Salon Dorado, inspired by the Versailles Palace in France with its impressive glasswork and decoration using gold and crystals. Every day just before noon you can see also the change of the Peruvian Honor Guard.
