Near the center of Taiohae, Pae Pae Piki Vehine provides a glimpse into the area’s culture. A pae pae is a traditional meeting spot; Piki Vehine continues to play that role today as a popular hangout for island kids, thanks to its breezy location in the center of town. It also has an array of modern sculptures and a dozen stunning tikis that were created by local and Easter Island sculptors for the 1989 Marquesas Art Festival.
