This may be one of my fav stays in all of Portugal. The 'paço' (Portuguese word for farm, property) is with the Calheiros family for centuries and the main house has been restored to accomodate visitors in gorgeous rooms decorated with antique furniture. My room had a lovely window to a garden and I could hear the sound of a fountain during the night. One thing to have in mind is that this is no hotel – there's no concierge or 24h restaurant. This is a family house and you will do way better trying to know the family history over a glass of wine with the gentleman Calheiros count than expecting room service.
