Now, keep in mind that besides Harry Potter (or any other association that comes to mind) this is just a regular place where people come to school. A bit of classic fun for a leisurely day punting around.
It's all so pastoral, and so very civilized. Everywhere I went felt like a movie setting (and chances are that I've seen most of these places in movies)!
Back at the University, the same feeling overwhelmed me. How can this place, so very beautiful, so manicured, be so perfect? And how wonderful it is that over the centuries people have cared so deeply about keeping up such an inspiring place.
A lot of tourists love it here, so to get the magic of it all you have to time it right. I'd imagine its a bummer for people who actually go to school here. My two cents? Come alone either very early or at the end of the day, and avoid the tour groups.
Oxford, I won't forget the magic.
