Orange County has always played second fiddle to LA in many regards, not the least of which is the food scene. Recently, this is changing with foodies and restaurateurs alike pulling the Orange Curtain aside with abandon. Nobu recently announced their newest opening in Lido Village in Newport Beach, slated for 2016. The legendary and formerly mob-owned Ritz restaurant is re-opening in a new location, where the erstwhile Chart House used to dwell on West PCH. Truly play the role and rent a VanDutch afterward, directly next door, and cruise Newport Harbor in style. Of course, we have some of the best Mexican and Central American cuisine North of the Border throughout the county in places like Santa Ana and Costa Mesa. Not to mention Asian-American eateries throughout Garden Grove, Westminster and the rest of the county that will rival anywhere on the planet. Mix all this into a blender with farm-to-table, gastro pubs, food trucks, old school seaside seafood restaurants, legit all you can eat Indian/Filipino/Indonesian buffets, dive bars with excellent grills......you end up with a kaleidoscopic culinary experience like nowhere else. We love LA and all it has to offer, food scene and otherwise, but if you want a decidedly different So Cal eating foray head south on the 405 and plunge in head and mouth first.
