Hiking along the Pacific Coast at Olympic National Park--the Third Beach trailhead to the Scott Creek beach area, which has a fresh water source, as the name implies, and makes a great place to stay for the night.
We began our trip at the Port Angeles visitors center for a $9 backcountry permit. We got some great information from the ranger about the hike and tides. Tides are an important consideration when hiking along the rocky coast, so the tide info we got at the ranger station was really helpful. (Side note: the Blackbird Coffeehouse in Port Angeles is a great little spot to stop for some Stumptown or a latte.)
