Old Town
save place
San Diego's not so distant past
One portion of Old Town is filled with neat shops, restaurants, and bars, while the other portion is designated as a state park. In the state park section, you will find restaurants and stores, but they will have the historical flavor of days past. During the weekends, volunteers dress in 18th century garments and walk about the square to give visitors a feel of those days. You can watch blacksmiths at work, listen to music, watch Mexican folk dancers in colorful costumes, and enjoy treats such as freshly baked churros. Stop in to the old cigar shop to look at the wonderfully crafted pipes or check out a huge model of what Old Town used to look like at the Johnson House.
