First Time snorkeling in Puerto Morelos, Learning AFAR
First time snorkeling was a very wonderful but terrifying experience. I remember sitting by the pool with the rest of the Global Explorers learning how to use the mask and learning about all the new marine life I would be seeing at the amazing coral reef. I was really fascinated with all the types of fish I got to swim with and see. I was so fascinated by them that when I got to the restaurant later on that day I had ordered one of the fish I had seen while snorkeling that morning. View from the Ojo de Agua hotel in Puerto Morelos, Learning Afar
Getting to Mexico was not like I expected. Since we were flying into Cancun I imagined it would be like all those spring break movies. From the airport we drove straight to the hotel in Puerto Morelos – we never even saw Cancun. The views were amazing with the bright blues of the ocean, white sands of the beach, green of the plants and the very colorful buildings and signs. This was very different from New York City where even the water is grey and dingy. This was not what I expected of the Cancun area. Mexico was peaceful and restful. This was the exact opposite of the typical spring break.
