The grand, but peaceful Belvedere is an unexpected find among the tall houses and busy streets of Vienna. In fact, it was located outside the city when it was first built, serving as a retreat for infamous Prince Eugene of Savoy. Both the Upper and Lower Belvedere are stunning constructions, and the park in between adds to the atmosphere of elegance, wealth and sophistication. But as if this wasn’t enough, the Upper Belvedere also houses one of the most impressive art collections in all of Austria. Both Klimt’s “The Kiss” and “Judith” grace the palace walls among other works by the artist and his contemporaries.
