Visit the Oakland Museum for a Look at California Life
With art, history, and the natural sciences all under one roof, the Oakland Museum has been working to address the many facets of life in California since it opened its doors more than 40 years ago.
After undergoing a recent renovation and transformation, the 300,000-square foot space in Oakland has become even more adept at nurturing the local community by integrating the museum’s programs and collections, serving as a public forum, and providing more opportunities for visitor and volunteer participation.
Check the website for current exhibits and programs, and make sure to check out the other events that the Oakland Museum has to offer: the annual White Elephant Sale, Northern California’s largest rummage sale, or Friday Nights @ OMCA, a weekly team-up with Off the Grid roaming food trucks for a late-night party outside the museum.
The Oakland Museum is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11 am to 5 pm, Fridays from 11 am to 9 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm.
