On the third week of May each year, the artists of Noto take to Corrado Incolaci, a palace lined street, for the Infioriata di Noto.
At this flower festival which is based on the theme of renewal, artists start their mosaic creations made of petals, seeds and legumes on Friday to be admired by hundreds over the subsequent weekend. Local children have a ball running through the street on the following Monday.
The show which I saw had reproductions of famous Italian paintings. The scale of the event was grander than I anticipated and the talent amazing. The colourful street literally had two small lanes for walking and the rest totally dedicated to the works of art. Stunning!
