A friend took me on an afternoon drive to discover some of Fort Lauderdale’s stunningly preserved architecture. First up: North Beach Village, located between historic Bonnet House and Bayshore Drive. The wide array of motels, condominiums, and apartment hotels located here resembles a pristine 50s/ 60s movie set – time travel at its best. Swedish investor and visionary Par Sanda discovered the area a while back and bought many of its neglected, dilapitaded buildings. His vision revitalized the area, while preserving its architecture and design history (thank you!!). Plans are underway to make the area more pedestrian friendly, and to add restaurants, and stores.
