Where to Hang With the Locals On a Friday Night in Copenhagen
Norrebro, north of the city center across the Dronning Louises Bridge, is where to go to find Copenhagen’s pulse. I stayed in an artist’s extra bedroom that overlooked the action on Norrebrogade. After chatting with a Swedish bartender while he spun a perfectly chill Pete Rock record at The Barking Dog a couple of blocks away, I wandered over to Blagardsgade. I spent the rest of my Friday night here amongst the artists and students at Harbobar and Escobar. The beer was cheap, the music was good, and the locals were clustered at cramped tables, laughing and drinking, with their bicycles piled against each other outside. I rolled back through for a coffee the next day, when it was calmer on a Saturday morning.
