Nebuta No Ie Wa Rasse

Nebuta Matsuri is an annual summer festival of illuminated parade floats that are designed and built over the course of a year. This stunning waterfront museum is dedicated to the festival and incorporates some of the festival’s sounds (booming taiko drums and flute music), as well as information and a display of some of the most intricate and beautiful of the lantern floats. The floats are made from wire frames covered with painted paper—some of the structures are cut open to show their frames—and depict historical or mythological scenes. The museum frequently holds weekend dance and music performances related to the festival.
