Peace and Relaxation in one of SE Asia's Busiest Cities
After a suggestion from a fellow Afar traveler, I booked a Grand Tour room at the Navutu Dreams Resort & Spa. Since this was my first time to Cambodia, I crossed my fingers.
There was no need to worry! Although the resort is located outside of the main Siem Reap area, my experience was not cheapened in the least. My room came with a driver that was mine to use 12 hrs/day which made for easy access to the temple areas and downtown Siem Reap. He knew the best routes to take and, knowing I was a photographer, worked to move me in a pattern that avoided most of the crowds. He also suggested more temples that I wasn't aware of - something I noticed other drivers from different resorts not doing.
The resort features a cafe, two pools, spa/massage center, and an incredible staff who are ready to help you with whatever you need. What's pictured on the website is an accurate representation of Navutu. They'll happily arrange for a sunrise tour of Angkor Wat and be ready for you to return in the afternoon for time by/in the pool.
My actions became routine over my days there. Early mornings to the temples north of Siem Reap, followed by relaxing afternoons by the pool, and finished with nights exploring downtown Siem Reap.
While other resorts may offer closer proximity to the city, you'll appreciate the distance away. It's hidden, giving it the perfect environment for peace and relaxation- something I welcomed after 2 months of hostels and backpacking through SE Asia.
