A glimpse into Taiwanese history
Founded on Oct. 17, 2003, the National Museum of Taiwan Literature is the first national museum in Taiwan dedicated to the literary arts. Prior to its opening as the museum in 2003, the museum housed the Tainan Prefectural Government. The building was damaged during World War II and was neglected for many decades before restoration. From archives containing records of indigenous cultures and integral periods in Taiwan's history, to educational activities for adults and children alike, the museum strives to be a valuable source for learning about Taiwanese literature, culture, architecture, and the country's past.
