Founded in 1861, the National Gallery of Victoria is the oldest public art museum in Australia, and one of the best. It holds over 70,000 works of art, from ancient to modern, sculpture to photography. Not to be missed are the extensive Aboriginal and Impressionist collections. There are two locations, the largest and oldest is in Southbank. The second is near Federation Square.
