The sound of metal chopsticks wafts from the doorway of this buzzing eatery in the busy shopping district of Myeongdong, giving the immediate impression that diners are eagerly consuming their meals. And upon entering, it’s clear from the extensive lip smacking they are. Choose from kalkuksu (chicken broth with knife-cut noodles topped with minced pork), bibimkuksu (noodles mixed with sesame oil and spicy pepper paste), kongkuksu (cold soybean soup with noodles), and mandu (steamed dumplings filled with minced Korean pork and vegetables). Since 1966, the restaurant has offered only these four items, meaning Myeongdong Kyoja has perfected them.
