Mushamna Cabin

The government of Svalbard maintains a public-use hunting cabin on the shoreline opposite the entrance to the Liefdefd Fjord. Belying its traditional appearance, the cabin was actually built in 1987 and is much larger than traditional hunting cabins found elsewhere on Svalbard. The cabin’s tenants are not the only hunters in the area: Polar bears roam the nearby Mushamna Lagoon, so several huskies are kept at the cabin to function as an alarm.
