Museu Histórico Joaquim Caetano da Silva

Located just a short walk from the Fortaleza de São José de Macapá, this museum is in a typical 19th-century building and features exhibits on archaeological finds in the area, principally ceramic pieces created by the pre-Columbian Maracá and Cunani peoples. Historic photographs give a sense of what the area has looked like since the 19th century, and you can pay respects at the remains of the museum's namesake, a local doctor and diplomat.
