Murray's Cheese is a Greenwich Village institution. Founded in 1940 by Murray Greenberg, the store is a place where cheese fanatics can rejoice — huge cases are filled to the brim with the world's best cheeses, plus the store sells artisanal olive oils, jams, spreads, salami, bread, nuts, chocolates, and other goodies. It's a one-stop shop when you are throwing a party for family and friends, or anyone you want to impress with a truly gourmet spread.
The store's cheese experts are extremely passionate about the cheeses and give generous samples. There is every kind of cheese here — mild, stinky, smoky, fondue, cave aged, and more, from sheep, goat, and cow’s milk.
Murray's Cheese is also famous for its popular classes: Cheese 101; The Meat of the Matter: Charcuterie & Cheese; Continental Collide: Old World Wines, New World Cheese; and (my favorite class name) Feel the Funk! Exploring Stinky Cheese.
Tamron Tip: Use the wide angle to capture the whole wall of cheese.
