It's that time of year when local historians and thespians get together to put on ghost tours. I visited the Mounds Theatre, originally built in 1922 as a Vaudeville theatre, with a group of my mother's friends from work. They consider themselves amateur ghost hunters and came prepared with recording devices and cameras (all of which you are free to use during the tour).
While I didn't have any ghostly experiences, the history and the stories told sent that nostalgic chill down my spine (I love stories). It's a great old theater in a neighborhood you wouldn't expect. They put on burlesque shows, a few plays, and some movie nights as well. A couple cool artifacts from the original theatre include the Vaudeville style stage and a film projector from when the theatre was converted.
