There's nothing quite like visiting a game reserve in Africa, especially since the animals run free and the humans are behind bars.
During a late day drive through the verdant plains of Moremi, in Botswana, our driver spotted two male lions, likely brothers, taking an afternoon stroll. He told us he was surprised to see them awake since lions typically sleep for 18 hours each day.
We followed the duo for about 45 minutes as they ambled along, watching their every move. Then they finally stopped for a drink at a newly formed puddle.
Our driver inched up slowly until we were within spitting distance from one of the lions. We got so close I could have reached down to pet him. Luckily I didn't. I couldn't have at that point anyway. I think I had stopped breathing.
