Moorea, Society Islands
Moorea is often thought to have inspired writer James Michener’s mythical world of Bali Hai. After all, the heart-shaped island features peaks towering above palm tree-lined beaches and reflected in the waters of Cook’s Bay and Opunohu Bay. Divers clamor for time here among the dolphins, tuna, and tropical fish. Optional shore excursions focus on adventures in the nature, with such choices as a botanical and agricultural garden walk, a shark dive with The Gauguin’s onboard dive masters, a sunset sail on a private catamaran, and several ways to explore Belvedere Lookout Point—with not-to-be-missed views of Moorea.
